2015 - Present

POSITION:  Photography Instructor, Yearbook Advisor, Academic Coach, ParishVirtual Instructor – Photojournalism & Portraiture (summer), Gallery Curator & Collaborator (department shared), Legacy event Senior class Coordinator, IMPACT Committee member                                                   

• Revamped the photography department - traditional and digital curricula for the Upper School students. Implemented new courses, both during the year and virtual options for summer courses.

• AP scores of 3-5 in last four years; exceed student enrollment numbers each year.

• Improved the quality of the yearbook publication and expectations of the students. Hold national first place yearbook ranking for 4 years (ASPA); win multiple other awards throughout the year.

• Curate 4-5 gallery shows per year; enter 2-3 outside competitions each year for photo students.

• Direct the Senior class and smaller subsection of committee members in their management of a school-wide event from the beginning of the planning stages through completion. Planning through culmination of event over a three-week period – event is held beginning of October

• (2019-20) Mentored new employee in department

• Designed program for incoming faculty with the help of our Assistant Head of School as a mentor program – proposed but denied due to Covid-19 restrictions

• Collaborate on media presentation for program covers – Rosette Drill Team, Choir and Theatre Productions – and Art Dept Posters as needed. (with photos… photoshop… compilations and adjustments: whatever is needed)

• Installed 2 major art installations within the school in the last 3 years. One was removed in order to install the 2nd. Sought approval from Head of school, building/grounds department, and made use of STEM personnel to implement the needed resources. Project displayed is a revolving exhibit with images of student work etched onto plexi, hanging in the main hall of our school.

• iMpact committee – designs practices for habits of work for students to use and apply throughout their methodologies. To be engaged while completing schoolwork and influence their development of self for the workforce after graduation. Committee includes members from all divisions and sectors of the school. – had to apply and was granted ‘admission’ to serve.

POSITION:  Art Instructor, Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach, Head Varsity Swim Coach, NAHS Sponsor, 9th grade Class Sponsor, Theatre Set/Prop Design Coordinator, Student Teacher at Tussing Elementary School

• Re-designed and incorporated a curriculum and pacing guide, along with a lesson plan template for levels of Art 1, Art 3, and Art Honors levels as needed. Considerations include the national standards, time restraints, and art supply limitations with limited budget. Compensated for a variety of ability levels; implement the VA state
  Standards of Learning; assigned rubrics for each lesson for adequate evaluation of skills and knowledge; created adequate accommodations for students with IEP and 504

• Sponsored the NAEA National Art Honor Society for high school students – implementing community service and
  volunteer hours, raising money with the annual Student Artwork Silent Auction

• Supervised the ongoing implementation of a variety of service-learning projects in and around Richmond serving children and adults. Intentions of each project created and administered by undergraduate students.

• Corresponded with State Farm Project Ignition and members of the Art Education Department to implement an on-site service-learning project at NAEA 2009 that influenced the teenage mindset regarding safe driving policies and drunk driving concerns for the general public

Hart Graduate Leadership Coach, SMU Hart Center for Engineering                               

Spring 2021

POSITION: Executive Coach for graduate students

• Collaborate with SMU-certified coaches dedicated to servicing students enrolled in the Lyle School of Engineering; designed to assess current leadership capabilities via the Hart Leadership Assessment and via individual coaching sessions

• Participate in Personal Leadership and Relational Leadership workshops to develop student learning techniques and self-awareness

• Guide students through one-on-one weekly coaching sessions for 10 weeks in an effort to become and develop and more well-rounded leader and understanding of self-development

POSITION: Service-Learning Coordinator, Summer Camp Leader

• Collaborated with local Animal Shelter to consider needs of shelter and determine options for artistic creations for summer camp registrants; students spent 4 days creating items for the animals at the shelter

• Curriculum included one day for an educational tour – tour included time with the animals, the vet, and the facility in order to understand the impact of the Shelter on the community and the donations from the students

• All supplies fully funded by Parish Episcopal School and registration fees of the students; all final items fully donated to the Shelter; all donations made to be a non-consumable item to ensure longevity

Summer 2009

POSITION: Curriculum Design, Curriculum-writer, Photo Teacher

• Recruited to create curriculum design for statewide art incentive for Virginia foster students; taught Richmond workshop to approximately 20 middle and high school students

• Collaborated with three other teachers to format weekend workshop highlighting photography, writing, and mixed media for students to use in their artistic expression of foster care

• Designed photography unit and all necessary materials and power point displays to be used throughout six weekend workshops that could easily be understood and implemented by various instructors

POSITION: Service-Learning Teacher, Elementary Art Teacher

• Defined the aspects of importance of community and partnership with approximately 15 third grade students

• Encouraged these students to actively determine and implement their project according to their personal impact on their school community

• Completed an inner-school art installation with the students, consisting of silhouettes on ceramic tile; tiles portrayed images of the students’ school and personal community relationships; project installed as the means to beginning a beautification project

• Oversaw all lifeguard and swim instructor schedules, trainings, and certifications; maintained certification database and taught swim lessons to all ages, and coached the youngest members (ages 8 & under) of the YMCA swim team.
