BROAD ROCK ELEMENTARY &

VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH

As a graduate student, I served two years leading and managing multiple service-learning projects throughout Richmond city, VA. Two of these involved a beautification project at Broad Rock Elementary School and another through an AmeriCorps Synergeo after school program in Cherry Hill. Both programs were a cross-cultural and cross-curriculum effort.

The Broad Rock program involved a 5th-grade class designing tiles that were painted with images of their community and installed inside of their school just inside the entrance.

The AmeriCorps program involved multiple art projects that were one-day lessons taught once-a-week to their attendees. This particular project studied mask designs in October, just before Halloween.
